Support & FAQ’s
What happens if people or license plates can be seen in the pictures?
Personal data, such as faces or license plates, are first stored in encrypted form on the vialytics smartphone and then automatically and irrevocably blacked out as soon as you get into our system.
Which vehicle can I use for driving?
Vehicles with a windshield that is as vertical as possible and a short bonnet, such as Sweepers or vans. The longer the hood, the flatter the angle at which the pictures are taken from the street, and the further the street is from the camera. I.e. the quality of the pictures suffers and damage is more difficult to identify.

We therefore ask you not to use normal cars for the registration. This is the only way we can guarantee optimal quality in the evaluation.
If I drive a street more often, will it cost me extra?
If a road is used more often, only one of it is evaluated. We make sure that the conditions for this tour are good, e.g. Weather and traffic.

We deliver one data update every six months, i.e. The task of the municipality is to drive all roads once in this half year, so that we have the data basis for evaluating these roads.
Can I drive in rain or snow?
Driving in rain or snow is not possible, as damage can hardly be seen on these pictures. A bright, slightly cloudy day is ideal for driving because shadows also make evaluation difficult. The road must be completely dry for this.
What is the difference between substance and flatness value?
The substance value is calculated from the extent of surface damage, e.g. Cracks, breakouts and patches. Various types of damage are included in the weighting to different extents.

The flatness value is determined by reading out the movement sensor of the smartphone. In this way, a statement can be made about the general longitudinal flatness of the streets and settlement can be recognized.
Are damaged manhole covers also recognized?
The system already recognizes and displays manhole covers and water inlets. Broken manhole covers and water inlets will also be marked accordingly in the future.
What happens to the old driveways if I do a new driveway in six months?
The data of the last journeys are archived. Our goal is to present a real change in the road condition in the system. For this it is absolutely necessary that the historical condition assessments and pictures can be viewed in the system.
What type of damage and what extent of damage is recorded with the system?
We base our evaluation on the guidelines for the maintenance management of urban streets E EMI 2012 of the Research Society for Roads and Traffic. We record open and closed cracks, inserted and applied patches as well as breakouts open joints and work seams. In addition, we make a statement about the general unevenness of the road via the smartphone's accelerometer.
Can I also use the system for walkways and bike paths?
Yes, our system is predestined for it. We can offer individual solutions for this and discuss with you the best variant for data acquisition.
Do I have to drive roads in both directions?
Basically, roads with two lanes should be driven in both directions. In the case of narrower side streets, it is sufficient to only drive in one direction, since the complete roadway is normally visible in the picture.
