AI-startup vialytics secures follow-up funding from EnBW New Ventures and Statkraft Ventures
Stuttgart, 21 September 2021

More than 150 cities trust the young Stuttgart-based AI company vialytics - now the investors are doubling down

Artificial intelligence for safe roads and cycle paths: More than 14,000 kilometres of road are already digitally managed with the help of vialytics’ system. Now, the Stuttgart-based startup has received funding from existing investors EnBW New Ventures (ENV) and Statkraft Ventures.

vialytics was launched in 2017 by the three founders Achim Hoth, Patrick Glaser and Danilo Jovicic-Albrecht. "Citizens want to get to their destination - safely by car or bike. Our system helps all municipalities to simplify their day-to-day operations from route control to maintenance management to ensure safe roads and cycle paths," say the vialytics founders.

"Since our last investment, vialytics has grown strongly and has established itself throughout Germany. We’re excited to support the team in their first steps outside Germany," says Theodor Schulte, Investment Manager at ENV.

More than 150 municipalities in Germany and other European countries already rely on vialytics. The solution is suitable for cities and districts of any size - in addition to the Heidekreis and the cities of Soest and Konstanz, other well-known cities such as Prague and Paris-Saclay have already been convinced.

Steffen Funck, Managing Director at Statkraft Ventures, also confirms: "In the last twelve months, vialytics has developed excellently. We are pleased to be able to support the team as it continues to scale."

About vialytics:

vialytics offers a system for the digital management of roads that are in the hands of the public administration - from municipalities and districts to federal states and infrastructure operators. An AI-based algorithm automatically detects road damage and inventory and evaluates this data objectively. The data is supplied by a smartphone attached to the windscreen. It records an image every four metres via camera, a motion sensor detects vibrations, and the GPS receiver determines the location. The images and data collected in this way are evaluated by the artificial intelligence of the vialytics system and made available to the municipality in a geographic information system (web GIS). Dangerous spots can thus be automatically detected in time and necessary remediation measures can be efficiently planned. This simplifies workflows that ensure more safety on the roads. Vialytics is constantly expanding its range of services and occupies a pioneering position as a partner of municipalities for innovative road inspections and preventive road safety.

Artificial intelligence for better roads: The new investment enables vialytics to further accelerate its expansion as a partner for cities and municipalities.

Statkraft Ventures joins existing investor EnBW New Ventures in backing the company’s ambitious goals. With this investment, vialytics is strengthening its growth following high demand for its products in Germany and abroad.

vialytics was founded in 2017 by Achim Hoth, Patrick Glaser and Danilo Jovicic. "Citizens want to live in communities that take good care of public goods. Our system helps municipalities to maintain their streets more efficiently and thereby optimises the municipal budget", say vialytics’ founders.

Statkraft Ventures is strengthening its portfolio in the Smart City sector with another market leader with outstanding technology features. "Cities and municipalities as well as infrastructure operators can realize tremendous savings with simple means by using vialytics' solution. The user-friendly installation, intuitive handling and the large scaling potential have convinced us – confirmed by positive feedback from more than 100 customers", says Steffen Funck, Managing Director at Statkraft Ventures.

Theodor Schulte, Investment Manager at EnBW New Ventures adds: "vialytics has managed to develop an efficient solution for digital road condition monitoring within a short period of time and confirmed its value on the market. We are pleased to bring Statkraft Ventures on board as a strong international partner and look forward to continuing the company's successful course."

About vialytics:

Vialytics offers a solution for the road maintenance management of municipalities, counties and infrastructure operators. An artificial intelligence automatically records and evaluates the condition of the road infrastructure. The data is provided by municipal vehicles, such as garbage trucks. A smartphone attached to the windscreen uses a motion sensor to record vibrations, a camera delivers pictures and the GPS receiver determines the location. The data collected in this way is evaluated by the vialytics system's artificial intelligence, and the data is made available to the municipality in a geographic information system (GIS). Damage can hence be automatically detected in time and necessary maintenance measures can be efficiently planned. Vialytics is constantly expanding its range of services and positions itself as a partner of municipalities for innovative and efficient maintenance of roads and municipal infrastructure.
